A BUFFER HIATUS! Storyline and Art Style Changes [SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER 2019] by Kid W25
October 1st, 2019, 2:01 am
Hello everybody!

Apologies on the lack of News Update last month (September), but as you may have read from my Hiatus Notice, for a majority of the month of September, I stepped away from and took a mental break from the webcomic just to rejuvenate my motivation. That has worked! I'm back, and the hiatus will be over and you'll be getting Jay and Thompson goodness from the 7th of October, and we'll be going twice-a-week strong till the end of season 1!

The end of the hiatus is fast-approaching and the buffer is going strong. I'm confident with the new art-style and formatting that is accompanying the new streamlined story-line changes, it would mean that the buffer is kept healthy longer.

I've decided to focus more on the slice-of-life side of Jay and Thompson as I don't think I've ever been able to continuously cultivate a mainly-comedic tone, this doesn't mean that there won't be funny moments, or jokes. But what it does mean, is hopefully the stories are less vignette-y, and more flow....y.

Good job Kid, you writer you.

I've felt slightly annoyed with how my characters look, for example: Jay's square-based face structure compared to everyone else's rectangular structure.

At first, I thought it was a good idea to focus on basic shapes for face-structures like: Square = Jay. Rectangle = Thompson. Circle = Mr. Flaggstaff. But then as I got more and more comfortable with the art-style, I realised that everyone else in the series had a rectangular face structure and Jay just felt out of place.

Speaking of Mr. Flaggstaff, he hasn't appeared for a long time, ever since the start of the series. Don't worry, he's not dead and I haven't forgotten about him. I was just focused on telling Jay's and Thompson's tumultuous past, and now that we're going back to present-day, he'll come up more often.

With a brand new design that brings him in line with the rest of the art-style that I've developed over the last 50 odd comic strips.

Once again, I apologise for missing the September news post. So for this month, I'd like to thank my Casual Tier Patron:

I'm sorry for not thanking you in September, but know that you're always on my mind.

In a platonic way.

That's it for now, for this month at the very least. I hope to see you all next month!
